What is the Wi-Fire?
The Wi-Fire is a compact, range-extending USB device that enables
users to access a wireless Internet connection from up to 1,000
feet away--three times the range of your internal wireless adapter.
The Wi-Fire uses a powerful directional antenna, highly sensitive
receiver and proprietary software to find and enhance normal Wi-Fi
signals. With it you can connect wirelessly to the Internet faster
and with a stronger signal than an internal wireless adapter can
achieve.
Who Needs the Wi-Fire?
The Wi-Fire is ideal for business and recreational travelers, municipal
Wi-Fi users, college students and home users. The Wi-Fire helps
highly mobile people surf the Internet, check email and even
stream audio and video in places where a standard wireless adapter
can't find a decent signal.
How does the Wi-Fire Work?
Wi-Fire uses a powerful directional antenna to enhance normal WiFi
signals, letting its users enjoy enhanced performance while connecting
to any hotspot. The Wi-Fire comes complete with everything you
need to connect wirelessly to the Internet. It draws very little
power from your laptop battery. Just install the driver software,
plug in the Wi-Fire to a USB port and you're ready to start.
It can rest flat on any surface or clip securely to a laptop
display or flat screen monitor.
The Wi-Fire Connection Manager reveals all available networks
in the area--more than you've ever seen without the Wi-Fire. Select
the strongest available network, rotate the Wi-Fire's 360-degree
directional antenna to focus the signal--and you're connected.
Will the Wi-Fire work on my computer?
The Wi-Fire works on Windows computers running XP or Vista or on
Macs running OS X 10.3 or higher, including Leopard. Either Intel
or Power PC processors will run Wi-Fire. The computer must be
equipped with a standard USB port.
When should I use the Wi-Fire?
The Wi-Fire is ideal for times when you are too far away from an
access point to find a strong wireless connection with your laptop's
built-in wireless adapter. You could look around for the closest
and strongest access point. You could suffer through a spotty,
slow connection that drops at the most inopportune time. Or you
could plug in your Wi-Fire and get online.
How do I know it works?
hField has done extensive field testing of the Wi-Fire in many
different environments and locations. Click
here to see details.
Does the Wi-Fire require much battery power?
The Wi-Fire draws very little power from your laptop battery, making
it ideal for mobile users.
How Big is the Wi-Fire?
Wi-Fire is quite small and very light, especially considering
its outstanding performance. It is also designed to easily fold
into its base, making it exceptionally small for transporting with
you. Just fold Wi-Fire up and carry it with you or toss it into
a laptop bag, briefcase or backpack. These pictures help
demonstrate how small Wi-Fire is, in use and when folded for travel.

How do I aim the Wi-Fire?
The Wi-Fire is simple to operate. Simply point the unit
in the direction of your target WiFi network. In the Wi-Fire hi-gain
adapter system, the best reception is achieved from the leading
edge of the plastic case. You should
aim the unit in the direction of the red line which is superimposed
on the following image. The
Wi-Fire Connection Manager will help you determine the optimal
angle for orientation. If you are unsure about the best direction
to point your Wi-Fire, use the Signal Quality bar in the software
to gauge WiFi strength until you find the best angle.

What if I don't feel satisfied with the Wi-FIre?
Wi-Fire
allows you to connect to very weak signals that wouldn't be possible
with normal adapters. Of course, Wi-Fire can only connect where
some WiFi signal is present. There is always some possibility that
even Wi-Fire cannot connect to the wireless network you'd like
to connect to.
If you find that Wi-Fire's performance is still
not adequate for your needs, we make it simple and convenient to
return your order. First, we ask that you call into Technical Support
for help. Often, it is a very minor problem in installation, even
though it is very straightforward. If you wish you to return your
Wi-Fire, you must contact us to obtain an RMA# within thirty (30)
days after the Wi-Fire was delivered. Convenience returns cannot
be accepted more than 30 days after delivery and hField cannot
