What is 802.11b/g?

The term 802.11b/g is essentially synonymous with WiFi. 802.11b was the first WiFi protocol, allowing users to connect at speeds up to 11Mbps. A few years after that, 802.11g was released, giving users a boost in speed up to 54Mbps. The Wi-Fire is compatible with both 802.11b and 802.11g.
